La Organización de las Naciones Unidas para la Agricultura y la Alimentación (FAO) aceptó el papel y las responsabilidades relacionadas con la facilitación de actividades pertinentes a la línea de acción C.7 Aplicaciones de las TIC – Ciberagricultura durante las reuniones de seguimiento de la Cumbre Mundial sobre la Sociedad de la Información
(CMSI) que se llevaron a cabo en febrero de 2006 en Ginebra. La FAO organizó el primer taller sobre Ciberagricultura en junio de 2006, que sirvió como un punto de encuentro de representantes de las principales organizaciones de desarrollo que tratan temas agrícolas. La reunión marcó el inicio del desarrollo de un proceso eficaz para involucrar a un mayor grupo de partes interesadas trabajando en temas relacionados con ciberagricultura en seguimiento a la CMSI, que dio como resultado la formación de un Grupo de Trabajo de Ciberagricultura (GTC). |
