A recent World Summit on the Information Society event focused on the adaptation the One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) initiative into a One Laptop Per Farmer (OLPF) variant. In providing XO laptops for farmers in isolated third-world communities, the OLPF is intended to help these farmers compete in the global market by allowing them to research market prices, share effective agricultural techniques, and develop an understanding of new technologies.
