e-Agriculture celebrated International Women's Day, the critical role of women in agriculture, and the positive benefits ICTs can have in the livelihoods of rural women.
For ICTs to benefit women in agricultural production and to challenge existing gender imbalances in rural livelihoods, it is necessary to understand women’s status and the gender roles and responsibilities in the society.
To learn more about these issues, the e-Agriculture Community is working with GenARDIS, CTA and other specialist. The English language forum "Gender, ICTs and Rural Livelihoods" was held last year and a policy brief was published in three languages to help inform good practices. Soon a French language forum will begin on this subject (full details coming soon).
