Global Information and Early Warning System (GIEWS)

[Knowledge base]
The leading source of information on food production and food security for every country in the world
GIEWS is a system that continuously reviews the supply and demand for world food, issues reports on the situation, and gives early warnings of potential food crises.
It is a conceptual model of an institutional information and communication system, which is also the basis for an international collaborative network. GIEWS is based on standards and tools for information exchange and communication, open source software, database resources, training tools and resources.
GIEWS aims to keep the world food supply/demand situation under continuous review, issue reports on the world food situation (See our Publications: Food Outlook, Crop Prospects and Food Situation, etc.), and provide early warnings of impending food crises in individual countries.
