Interview with Christian Kreutz about Mobile Phones for Rural Development

Ms. Anna-Maria Walter had the opportunity to speak with Mr. Christian Kreutz, Subject Matter Expert from the Virtual Forum "Mobile Telephony in Rural Areas" held on e-Agriculture.org in November 2008. Christian, a consultant, shared his experiences with Anna-Maria, and his vision for the future of ICTs in Rural Development.
A political scientist, Christian as worked for the GTZ (German Technical Cooperation) for five years as project manager and communication specialist. Now a consultant for knowledge management and information and communication technologies for development (ICT4D), he is well known for his innovative blog (www.crisscrossed.net). He considers himself a knowledge activist, due to the current situation in what’s happening ‘in the triangle of communication, knowledge and the internet’. In the area of ICT4D, he focuses on mobile telephony, because he believes, ‘they make it possible to reach a greater amount of people than any other technologies before’.
