Paper: "The Role of Rural Women in Natural Resource Management in Kenya"
By: Volunteers for Africa
This paper looks at the vital role that rural women in Kenya have as the 'invisible' managers of natural resources. Sustainable development and conservation of natural resources in rural areas can't go forward without the full involvement of rural women, who need to be trained, involved and educated on the importance of natural resources management.
This paper also discusses the research gaps and the need for governments and non-gobernmental entities to recognize the key role of rural women as land and agricultural managers, water managers, foresters and wildlife managers.
