e-Agriculture Community at the World Summit on the Information Society 2009 Forum

Michael Riggs, e-Agriculture Action Line Facilitator will host a panel discussion on the activities of the e-Agriculture community in response to the WSIS Action Line C7: e-agriculture in Geneva on 20 May 2009 .

The discussion will focus on the community's exploration of ways in which mobile telephony is being used in agriculture and rural development to communicate and share knowledge for livelihood-related tasks and how these roles could be enhanced. This builds on the two virtual forums hosted on e-agriculture.org, Mobile Telephony in Rural Areas – the forum in English during November 2008, and the Spanish forum during April 2009.

The interactive panel will include Ms. Roxanna Samii, IFAD, Mr. Arafat Hossain-Katalyst, and Dr. Leo Lehmann- ITU.
