International Association of Agricultural Information Specialists
IAALD is the leading global community of practice for information specialists serving agriculture. Comprising individual and institutional members worldwide, its mission is to enable its members to create, capture, access and disseminate information to achieve a more productive and sustainable use of the world's land, water, and renewable natural resources.
For more than 50 years, IAALD has acted as an enabler, supporting its members - normally information specialists / infomediaries - to more effectively apply and use information and communication applications that serve their end users. Since mid 2005, IAALD has built on a 'web2.0' approach, looking for ways to re-invent IAALD information and communication activities. IAALD seeks to use low cost options, to innovateout of the box, and to use an approach that builds on the efforts of members and which generates content that can be re-used and re-purposed across the association and across platforms- web, email, etc. Applications IAALD uses include blogger (blog), technorati, google analytics, statcounter, RSS, frappr (member map), del.icio.us (social networking), skype (VOIP), and dgroups.
