The World Telecommunication and Information Society Day (WTISD) occurs on 17 May each year to raise awareness of the possibilities that the use of the Internet and other information and communication technologies (ICTs) can bring to societies and economies, as well as of ways to bridge the digital divide.

In the rural context, ICTs provide enhanced opportunities to generate income and combat poverty, hunger, ill health and illiteracy. The theme of this year’s WTISD, “Better life in rural communities with ICTs”, aims to ensure that ICTs will contribute to a better future for our rural populations.

What are you doing to promote "Better life in rural communities with ICTs"? Let us know. Post a comment here, or email info@e-agriculture.org with your story and we will publish it on the e-Agriculture Community's web platform.
