CTA to launch a book , "ICT Agripreneurship Guide – A Path to Success for Young ACP Entrepreneurs"

The Technical Centre for Agriculture and Rural Cooperation (CTA) is set to launch a new book entitled,  ICT Agripreneurship Guide – A Path to Success for Young ACP Entrepreneurs. This books relays CTA's experience of working with young people in the information and communications technology (ICT) sector

The book is set to be launched at the African Agripreneurs Youth Forum (AYA Forum) in Ibadan, Nigeria. The AYA Forum is organised by the African Development Bank (AfDB), in collaboration with CTA, the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) and the African Agribusiness Incubation Network (AAIN).

Additionally, during this meeting CTA will run a pre-event dubbed Accelerating Youth Agriculture Entrepreneurship Using ICTs

The handbook for  ICT Agriprenuership Guide.

The handbook describes real-life examples through case studies and interviews with entrepreneurs, and also provides step-by-step guidance on setting up and running an e-agriculture business, and gives recommendations on designing successful business models and how to avoid common pitfalls.

As stated here, the book " first of its kind, the booklet is an introductory must-have reference material for any young aspiring agripreneur in an ACP country looking to offer services to the agricultural sector. It is also invaluable for institutions supporting young innovators and those who are already engaged in the ICT and agriculture sectors, but who are struggling to thrive "

In a related finding by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO),six principal challenges affecting youth in agriculture were identified as -

  • insufficient access to knowledge,
  • information and education,
  • limited access to land,
  • inadequate access to financial services,
  • difficulties in accessing green jobs,
  • limited access to markets, and
  • limited involvement in policy dialogue.

This publication will fullfill one of the problems affecting youth in agriculture.
