Estonia, Rwanda ICT entrepreneurs to create network

Rwanda and Estonia are reported to have started to create a professional network between ICT entrepreneurs that could benefit these countries bi-laterally.

This follows a working visit by the President of Estonia Her Excellency Kersti Kaljulaid who expressed interest in ICT oriented partnerships in Estonia and Rwanda. She held talks with Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry and visited K-Lab (a center that provides an open space for IT entrepreneurs to collaborate and innovate).

ICTs in agriculture : The Rwanda situation

This visit of the Estonian President to Rwanda supports  the country’s drive in the implementing and integrating ICTs across the government.In the agricultural sector Rwanda has the ‘National ICT4RAg Strategy is a cross stakeholder effort to implement ICTs in agriculture.This strategy runs from 2016 to 2020. 

The strategy seeks to mainstream ICT4RAg within the agriculture sector and offer a shared vision of all stakeholders of ICTs in agricultural and rural development.

The ICT4Rag has three principle guidelines:-

  • a national ICT4RAg vision that corresponds to development and achievement of national agriculture modernization goals;
  • a national ICT4RAg action plan that reflects Rwanda’s agricultural and rural development priorities; and
  • a national ICT4RAg implementation, monitoring and evaluation plan to manage the implementation and associated risks and measure the outcomes and impact of the stated objectives.
