e-Agriculture Newsletter for March is out! The e-Agriculture monthly newsletter for March has been published to subscribed members. This months' newsletter focuses on Women, Girls and ICT, as explained in the lead article that the month of March has many activities that focus on ICTs and Women. Coincidentally, the in March a new publication, GENDER AND ICTs : Mainstreaming gender in the use of ICTs for agriculture and rural development , which was launched during the International Women's Day 2018 celebrations. Meanwhile, the 62nd session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW62) will coincidentally take place at the United Nation Headquarters in New York from the 12th to the 23rd of March 2018. The review theme of this event is ‘participation in and access of women to the media, and information and communications technologies and their impact on and use as an instrument for the advancement and empowerment of women’. |
FAO shares the "7 Success factors to empowering rural women through ICTs" FAO has published the "7 success factors to empowering rural women through ICTs: Using technology to transform lives" page. The page begins by outlining the opportunities brought about by the adoption of ICTs and thereafter explores the potential that remains untapped by women in ICTs and agriculture. Women tend to be marginalised and have less access to ICTs. Read the article here |
International Women’s Day 2018 (#IWD2018) focuses on ICTs in Agriculture To mark International Women’s Day 2018 (#IWD2018), FAO, IFAD and WFP are organizing an event that will focus on how media and ICTs can empower rural women and girls to transform their lives. The empowerment of rural women and girls is a central element in the drive to eradicate poverty and hunger, and to build inclusive and sustainable rural societies. Read the article here |
