Invitation to participate in the 3rd week of the ICTs in Horticulture discussion forum

Dear e-Agriculture member,

We are happy to further provide you with the details of the on-going discussion on ICTs in Sustainable Crop Production Intensification (SCPI) of horticulture crop based systems ( mainly on fruits, vegetables, roots and tubers).

Week Two Roundup

Last week participants provided excellent case studies on the Application of ICTs in Sustainable Crop Production Intensification (SCPI) of horticulture crop based systems .

A number of promising and successful examples of ICT - tools, technologies and innovative practices in use were share that could be adapted to different contexts and at a different scale of production.

Participants also highlighted the ever-increasing and significant roles of ICTs in ensuring sustainable intensification of horticulture.

Since the birth of ICTs, great changes have been noted in the agricultural production systems. As demonstrated by the cases shared on the forum, horticulture growers have benefitted immensely from the ICT revolution including older technologies such as radio and television to advanced modern technologies, such as GPS navigation, satellite communication, wireless connectivity, robots, etc.
